The scene is set: You’re an NBA player in Las Vegas on a Friday Morning… What could go wrong? Apparently everything. After a night of gambling and god knows what, an altercation between former teammates Bam Adebayo and Tyler Herro allegedly broke out on a practice court inside the Resorts World Casino on the morning of July 10th. After Tyler Herro was traded to Miluakwee on June 22nd, it seemed as though he was going to “Cream City” with Miami in his proverbial Rear-View. Unfortunately, phantoms and ghouls of his past had found him in Las Vegas. That ghoul was one of the most elite scorers in NBA history, Bam Adebayo. With a length of 6’ 9” and a 7' 1” wingspan, Bam Adebayo is not someone who you want to be struck by (the amount of torque Adebayo can produce is off the charts per few scientists). Herro found himself on the receiving end of an Adebayo blow after Adebayo confronted his former teammate over social media posts and leaked DMs supposedly from an account tied to Tyler Herro.
“I didn’t say any names. I’m just saying, should an elite defender be making 60 million a year? Answer that.” the supposed Tyler Herro account touts.
Apparently, Adebayo thought this claim was aimed at him and had a few choice words to say. Reports claim that Herro had responded in a way that “set off a fire” in Bam. Or in other words, a Heat. According to The Athletic, the incident took place “in front of an AAU team run by Herro”. This means it all happened in front of children. I tracked down one of these AAU players and got the real story.
According to 14 year old Bryant “Chuggs” Ledesley, Herro called Adebayo “Bobby Portis Light” and a “Free throw merchant” to which Bam proceeded to call Herro a “Wigger” and struck him. Herro reportedly fell to the ground and attempted to get back up to throw “hands” but the two former Kentucky Wildcats were restrained. It is unclear if the AAU children helped restrain the NBA stars or not. While this incident occurred off-court, the NBA has not and will not fine either parties supposedly. Sources close to both parties suggest that the incident may have been fueled by Bam Adebayo’s 83 point game which he posted on March 10th this past season against the Washington Wizards. While 36 of Adebayo’s points were scored at the line, he still holds the title of having the second most points scored in an NBA game. Herro on the other hand holds absolutely 0 NBA records at this time and mind you, didn’t even play that fateful night on March 10th. The jealousy and insecurities held by Herro may have led to this altercation as he watched the second greatest scoring game of all time from the bench.
Bobby Portis and “Bobby Ports Light” (according to Herro) will be playing alongside one another in Miami this upcoming NBA season while Tyler Herro will start a new chapter of his career in Milwaukee. The stage is set and the NBA world looks forward to exciting matches between the Heat and the Bucks next season. Will the feud continue on the court?
