Josh Hokit is the final form of the WWE-ification of the UFC

SACRAMENTO -- WME Group, LLC, formerly WME-IMG, and even more formerly Endeavor, otherwise known as the parent company of the WWE and UFC has reached the penultimate form of combat sports entertainment. This is obvious from UFC 327 with the Blaydes v Hokit fight.

This was, hands down, one of the most brutal and entertaining fights that anyone has seen in years. Real guts and damage were on display. Facial fractures occurred for Blaydes. But for me, the fracture of of the sport has never been more clear.

Hokit is a spectacle. He is reminiscent of the Hulkster in his prime. Swaggering, duragged, oiled to perfection. The peak of athleticism, unafraid, going hard in the octagon. Americana personified. You have to respect the fighter. But you have to loathe the organization.

The UFC has, as of late, cut promos in the post-fight interview with Rogan. It has been blatant. But few do so in character wearing an American flag rag (don't you DATE mention Jiri.) The icing of the cake? He will now fight at the White House 250 celebration.

The sport that I used to love has gone ultra mainstream. The sport where a Boston cop punched some guy in the crotch over and over. The sport that housed Chuck "The Iceman" Liddell, Kimbo Slice, and Brock Lesnar. Donald "Cowboy" Cerrone has broken every bone in his body. These upstanding citizens were ATHLETES. Not caricatures of fighters.

The UFC's train has reached the station. Dana White is the conductor, and Josh Hokit is shoveling the coal.
