Fernando Mendoza: Somehow Not A Member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints

Fernando Mendoza, the No. 1 pick for the Raiders in the 2026 NFL draft defies all odds by not being a Mormon.

LAS VEGAS -- Somehow the newest addition to the group of "Wholesome" NFL players isn't actually cut from the Mormon cloth. Mendoza joins the ranks of the "Wholesome 4", Bryce Young, J.J. Watt, Andrew Luck, and Warrick Dunn after his latest first round draft to the Las Vegas Raiders.

It is nearly stereotypical, a man of faith traveling to the land of sin. In this case, can he save them (the Raiders not Las Vegas) or will he be destroyed by them like many before him (Maxx Crosby).

This is the second worst day for the Mormons after the day Joseph Smith ascended to the outer darkness.

We congratulate Mendoza on becoming one of the selected few to claim the No 1. spot, and we hope he can shepherd the weak through the valley of the darkness, for he is truly his brother's keeper and the finder of lost children.
