Continuing the string of short Prime Minister terms, Starmer is speculated to resign before England's match against Ghana in the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
LONDON -- The 2026 FIFA World Cup has been exciting, with the US doing much better than projected and Ghana absolutely killing it as predicted. This puts Downing Street in a rather tight spot. The Labour Party has already been on the rocks, with the under 16 social media ban looming and the Brexet hangover still taking it's toll. Now they have to face their toughest national challenge in decades, Ghana.
Ahead of this seminal match it is speculated that Starmer will announce he is stepping down as PM. Even more unfortunately, his successor might see the same fate. After Ghana there is the Panama match where they are certain to lose. That gives his successor only 4 days before their resignation is announced. That is approx. 0.08 Truss, the standard measurement for Prime Minister durations (the base being 49 days). And say we simulate England's wins further, next up is Spain, and yet another PM resignation.
All in all England could be facing another 6 Prime Minister resignations in the coming weeks. It was the beginning of the end of full terms starting with John Major, and now it will only accelerate. A new PM per week may just become the norm until the UK rejoins Europe. Of course, "Saor Alba" will be heard in the streets much before that as the Scottish separatist referendum passes due to their stellar performance during FIFA.
